TURNING POINTS – CROSSING THE THRESHOLD TO A NEW LIFE

A significant turning point in September is largely defined by the Saturn – Neptune square, with the stakes and potential for transformation amplified by two very intense eclipses, falling in Virgo (September 1st) and Pisces (September 16th). Late November of 2015 saw the first aspect occur, the onset of a challenge associated within the manifestation of an ideal (or otherwise the realization of an illusion) that has been pervasive throughout most of the year. The final culmination (September 10th) will show how well we have navigated the confrontation that emerged, and whether or not the attainment of the ideal has been successful. In order to do this we have likely had to overcome something, or prove our dedication. Saturn has a back to basics quality that requires a certain mettle and staunch determination that likely described what was required to overcome the challenge(s) presented. Much has been stripped away in order to complete this task. The reality check here was to really evaluate and define what is real (difficult under the gauzy-hazy auspices of the Neptune square) and work with what we actually have, in order to create that which could possibly be.

Neptune’s impulses come from a etherial and creative place that stimulates divine inspiration. Saturn demanded that the inspiration be crystalized into some kind of workable and tangible form. Jupiter from Virgo added emphasis to the material realm, and gave us some beneficial tools to work with, assisting us in finding new methods to stimulate productivity. Health and wellness have also been a focus, with the North Node pointing us toward an evolutionary path that shows us better ways to manage well being. Finding the right life management patterns has a positive and outward effect on all else going on with us and around us. Feeling good most certainly boosts our availability to be present, both for generating the endurance that is required as we work toward successful outcomes as well as to meet the demands of more critical challenges as they inevitably occur.

The eclipses this month represent a real shake up, and may prove severe testing points for the durability of the structures we have developed or the path to the future we wish to sow. September 1st can be volatile, as our 9 Virgo eclipse falls right in the cross hairs of the culminating Saturn – Neptune square, which is already strong enough by the end of August to clearly be felt. A Solar Eclipse represents a moment for monumental growth forward and engagement of a new opportunity, and while this will certainly be no exception, this particular prospect is inhibited by the ongoing challenges Saturn – Neptune represent. It’s also possible an event or insight that occurs around this time provides the necessary breakthrough or catalyst through which we find the solution to a sizable conflict. With the Eclipse ruler (using Mercury as the traditional ruler of Virgo) in detriment because it is retrograde, it’s going to take an extra bit of sorting through to get there. (Bookmark October 6th as the place where everything can begin to fall into place, at least on an organizational level.) Sun conjunct North Node on September 5th will provide clearer directives that illuminate the pathway to the future.

PISCES ECLIPSE 9/16:

While the Solar Eclipse may be vexing, mainly because of the impediments to that which we seek to get off the ground, it’s really the Lunar Eclipse at 24 Pisces on the 16th that packs the punch. Lunar eclipses signal endings, and with Mars in hard aspect, square both Sun and Moon, it could be an ending that comes out of an argument or disagreement. Saying goodbye is always more difficult under the auspices of a bad break or burning a bridge, and there is a rather hostile and contentious atmosphere at this time. It could equally be that a significant culmination occurs that someone on the sidelines disapproves of and responds to argumentatively or aggressively. An ethical or legal dispute can also present an issue or conflict around this period.

Moon and Chiron in Pisces will also be close at the time of the Eclipse, and there can be a healing release connecting back to events last March. Letting go of pain, and perhaps more significantly, the idea we have to continue putting energy into a situation out of feelings of sympathy – as opposed to a genuine desire to participate, are also significant topics of the eclipse that seek resolution. This also ties into feelings of personal self worth, or a lack there of, that keeps us tenuously bound to unhealthy or unsatisfying relationships or conditions. This will be a potent time in which to evaluate these feelings and make an effort to resolve these issues where we find them to be present. Sensitivity will be heightened immensely at this time, so take it real easy if you are naturally empathic/intuitive. In the following days, the Aries Moon rejuvenates and from September 17 – 19, Venus, Mars and Uranus all align playfully, igniting a really fun and dynamic ambience for love, pleasure and sex, especially where you are ready to try something, or even someone, new.

Mercury retrograde (August 30 – September 22) underscores the dynamic atmosphere of the month, in some ways muddling the proceedings, but also ensuring we get it right, so we can move forward with clarity and conviction into the incredibly advantageous final quarter of the year. Mercury has two significant accomplices during the RX cycle, Jupiter and Pluto, which will actually stimulate a very positive ambience for growth through the conversations and negotiations that will take place throughout September. Jupiter, with which Mercury remains in very close communication with from August 20 – September 5th, infuses communication and thinking with hope and optimism for the future. From Virgo, refinement of a concept or the methods we engage in order to manifest it are highlighted. The combination of the two augurs good will and expansion. So towards the end of August we are generating big and exciting ideas, and making very positive strides within communication based activities.

Mercury then takes a step back to reevaluate the grand design it’s working on, spending the final two weeks of September in harmonious alignment with Pluto, the period from the 20th – 23rd signaling the peak of their contact. The cosmic messenger takes the bold ideas it formed with Jupiter and intensifies them through the connection with Pluto, ensuring these prospects and activities augment and enhance the deeper transformation that is occurring in our lives. The modification that transpires now is crucial and will boost our chances at success, so don’t feel deterred if things seem to be taking a while to get sorted. Important information has yet to be revealed and Virgo – Mercury seeks to establish a methodology that will generate the best results. This does not necessarily indicate a loss of momentum, just a period of reassessment that will likely be very busy as we attend to numerous details!

Look to developments that occurred in March and June (when Jupiter and Pluto were trine) as we are currently in the process of articulating and manifesting the goals and opportunities represented by those contacts. This period from the 20th – 23rd is when the most vital conversations will occur, with Mercury turning direct on the 22nd, we pivot towards a new agenda directly out of the agreements and discussions taking place at this vital and significant time. Mercury will combine forces emphatically with Jupiter at 7 Libra for a third time on October 11th, and it will be all systems go on the relationship, lifestyle and enterprise from there.

With Jupiter in Libra from the 10th, we shift from the learning phase of the last year into a climate ripe for initiative and new beginnings. Jupiter in Libra will emphasize creating balanced relationships between ourselves and others, and offer expansive opportunities through relating, especially within artistic and intellectual activities. Jupiter will engage with Pluto and Uranus this year, encouraging a more diplomatic response to the more volatile and abrasive confrontations we have endured since 2012. Partnerships will thrive, as the Sun – Jupiter conjunction (Sep. 26th) and Libra New Moon on the 30th will quickly attest to. Venus in Libra through September 23rd sets the tone, stimulating amenable social conditions and the cultivation of connections that will enhance prosperity and growth.

The ambience really gets a jolt at the end of the month, as Pluto resumes direct motion on the 26th and Mars enters Capricorn the following day. An executive and professional atmosphere prevails and our most determined efforts and conviction towards success become stimulated. A persevering quality is present through mid November, and makes this a good period in which to tackle a tough project or challenge you can completely immerse yourself within, particularly if it leads to promotion and advancement. TANGENT NEPTUNE: UNDER THE INFLUENCE

The first week of the month bustles with activity, a pragmatic, but passionate energy is prevalent as Sun transits Scorpio and Venus, Mars and Jupiter continue through Virgo. This is a great time to take action on projects that require organization and attention to detail, as we’ll feel very productive in the days leading up to the compelling New Moon in Scorpio, November 11th. The New Moon connects intimately with the Jupiter – Pluto trine, and has powerful, expansive overtones. Meanwhile, brash Uranus in Aries forms a strange alinement called a Yod impacting the 17’ Aries/Libra midpoint. It seems whatever begins now does so quite suddenly or in a very unexpected way. There may be an astonishing opportunity to engage an innovative new course of activity. For clues think back to what was initiated last March – April. Both the Sun and Jupiter form their exact, individual quincunxes to Uranus in the days leading up to the New Moon, so news may come in on the 5th or 9th that requires swift thinking or decision making. The pace is very brisk and in some cases news or events will be somewhat startling! Get as much of the organizing and nitty gritty detail oriented stuff done as possible during the first week. Venus and Mars move into airy Libra in the second week and the ambience will become quite social, and less work oriented, unless you work in the arts, that is!

Venus from Libra makes several key aspects this month, and lovers and partners will be connecting passionately (Venus conjunct Mars) and making binding commitments (Venus sextile Saturn) in this phase. More disruptive influences (square Pluto/opposite Uranus) suggest reappraisal of these commitments and can potentially signal endings for some. The dynamics these aspects bring on can be destabilizing, but are really just meant to test to durability of our bonds. Venus – Pluto signifies a turning point that will transform a relationship, it will either deepen in intimacy or falter. The Uranus connection can be quite exhilarating. The Sun – Mercury cycle begins on the 17th from 24 Scorpio. It is from here we set the agenda of our daily activities for the next 4 months. This thrust of our communications will endure and see modification during the next Mercury retrograde phase (January 2016). The Neptune – Saturn square forms exact this month, it’s possible the curtain rises on an inconvenient truth, shattering an illusion that we have for too long turned a blind eye to. This is an undertone that will affect us for the coming year, with the third, final aspect occurring (due to the retrograde periods) September 2016. Neptune energy can be quite elusive and evasive, though the reasons for this are actually far more complex than one might realize, and can be rooted in deep feelings of inadequacy or shrouded in such intensified idealism that it makes it impossible to settle for anything that exists in the ordinary world. Neptune far prefers the fantasy to the reality and would much rather create the perfect a scene in the imagination than to deal with the real flesh, blood and potential imperfections a confrontation in meatspace might reveal. This can be especially pernicious in relationships where we might keep our partner at a safe distance, just far enough away to not have to observe what might be undesirable characteristics while indulging perpetually in fantasy about the circumstances, padding the details with what we fancy rather than what’s real. This applies to any area in which Neptune is operating in your chart right now (read for your ascendant for the dirty details). There can be some anxiety accompanying this transit where we realize we have deluded ourselves about circumstances or individuals we had chosen to perceive as faultless. Beneath that gauzy and alluring veneer, we begin to see the cracks, and the extent to which this illusion has been perpetuated, the harder it will be to ultimately accept this reality.

Saturn, on the other hand is only about what’s real, and has a reputation for being tough or harsh, particularly where our deepest sense of idealism would seek to prevail. The interaction of these two, will thus be problematic where we have entertained an illusion rather than the truth. Neptune seeks to release and let everything go. Saturn is about taking responsibility and administrating over the environment in which it finds itself. Whereas Neptune represents a situation we may have idealized, Saturn is about getting serious and with these two acting upon each other some friction where we must acknowledge the distinction between fact and fiction. Neptune represents the ability to transcend, whereas Saturn tends to be the work and obligation that we are trying to transcend. It’s easy to knock Saturn, but keep in mind, it is this planet that offers security, stability and maturity. The themes of “getting real” and accepting and setting some boundaries becomes important over the coming year. In several ways, seeing the reality of a situation and removing some of the fuzzy edges from our vision can be a really positive adjustment. By acknowledging the truth of what is and what is not yet, we can get to work on materializing the vision Neptune is providing when reality comes up short.

It’s also possible something really quite lovely is emerging, that serendipity has brought forth an extraordinary and beautiful circumstance, though perhaps it is not yet tenable within your life structure. In this case this aspect will challenge you to confront this now and throughout next year to build a structure that will be supportive to this. There is the potential that the desire to obtain the divine and etherial essence Neptune is expressing for us individually will drive us to overcome a major obstacle. In this way the theme over the next 10 months can be be making the unreal or impossible into the real.

The vast reorganization required from now through next September likely stems back to circumstances that had coalesced in mid 2013. Jupiter/Cancer, Saturn/Scorpio and Neptune/Pisces sat in a comfortable trine, and developments during this period were easy to make and lent to a positive and stable emotional ambience. The the test now is to rearrange our lives around all that has happened since, to take what was learned from the highly introspective and cathartic Saturn – Scorpio phase and turn it out into the world at large. The original conjunction occurred in 1989, (if you can remember that far back, 😉 ) so something that began for you personally in that period is being triggered.
